The Phoenix Swimming Club, sponsored by Essex Auto Group, teaches and coaches swimmers of all standards from Novice to County and National Standard – covering a wide age spectrum from the very young to adult masters. They often compete in open galas as well as local leagues and currently swim in Division Two of the Essex Swimming League.
Phoenix Swimming Club is a friendly and professional club with an aim to develop swimmers to reach their full potential and have a vision to become one of the top clubs in the country.
One success story is Kathryn Pearse who has had a great 2008/9 season and is already hitting the headlines in the 2009/10 season. Kathryn has been selected onto the ASA England Talen Development Programme. This is the National Governing bodies scheme for elite age group swimmers. She will now attend several training camps with the top swimmers in the region and be coached by England Talent Coaches. Kathryn is a hot prospect for the 2016 Olympics and Essex Auto Group are watching her progress with keen interest.
The future of Gloucester Park is looking good as work on the new Sporting Village project has now started, and In April 2011 the best public sports facility in Essex will open its doors at Gloucester Park North. The Basildon Sporting Village will include a 50 metre swimming pool.
