Gibbo Passes the £100 Grand Mark for Heroes
3 Royal Navy sailors are going to walk from Cardiff to Wembley carrying the match ball for the England V Wales football fixture on the 6th September. They will be setting off from Cardiff on the Monday 29th August at 09:00 and expect to arrive at Wembley by 15:00 5th September. The guys will be raising money for the charity Help for Heroes.
The lads will be covering between 24-26 miles per day along some lovely country roads and some busier A roads before arriving at Wembley with the ball that the players will kick off with on the 6th Sept. The trio are sponsored on by ESSEX AUTO GROUP and have based all the marketing for the event in and around the Essex area. The aim as ever, is to raise as much money for Help for Heroes as possible and to increase awareness of the charity along our route.
The event will be a milestone for GIBBO as the start will see him pass the £100,000 he has raised for Help for Heroes by organising and partaking in a number of events, such as walking across Scotland in 2008, walking the circle in 2009, visiting his Ships’ affiliated City of St Albans in (2009 and 2010), visiting football grounds and shaking his collecting bucket at T20 cricket at Essex CCC at Chelmsford. All this has been done in his own time whilst maintaining a busy role on an operational ship and now at the Maritime HQ (NATO) Northwood.
Colchester is the most important Garrison Town in Essex and an ideal place for us to receive our car from ESSEX AUTO GROUP with the Rehabilitation Centre under construction in the background.
