Essex Auto Group Graham Gooch Cricket Centre
Essex County Cricket Club have enjoyed another successful season, culminating in the dramatic promotion to the top flight of the LV= County Championship.
In 2010 Essex County Cricket Club will be playing in Division I for the first time since 2003. Promotion was secured in the most dramatic of circumstances on the final day of the season Ryan ten Doeschate’s 108 not out off 59 balls is a knock that no Essex supporter either present or watching on television will forget. Featuring nine fours and eight sixes, not only did it wrestle the inititiative away from the home side but it also meant the batting team wrapped up victory with five overs to spare.
1st XI Team
The Essex Cricket First XI have enjoyed huge success in the past few seasons. Under the leadership of Coach Paul Grayson and the Captaincy of Mark Pettini Essex are going from strength to strength. Success has been achieved in all formats of the game in recent years:
• LV= County Championship – Division II runners-up – 2009
• Friends Provident Trophy Winners – at Lord’s 2008
• NatWest Pro40 Division II title winners 2008
• Twenty20 – reached finals day 2008
In previous years Essex Auto Group have sponsored the Tweny20 shirt and have enjoyed the many headline moments that Essex County Cricket have achieved over the last couple of years. We wish them every success in 2010.
We are now moving our attention and sponsorship to the Graham Gooch Cricket Centre. Adults, School groups and Colts groups use the Cricket Centre for training and indoor leagues are now underway. Individual Coaching programmes are carried out in the centre with many a new “star” shining through. ~
The newly named, “Essex Auto Group Graham Gooch Cricket Centre” offers a variety of courses and activities for Girls and Boys 7 to 70+. Cricket Days, Skill Days and Cricket Camp are amongst some of the activities. Essex Auto Group will be working alongside Essex County Cricket Club in 2010 supporting Youth Cricket in our local schools and community.
