British stunt driver Alastair Moffatt has broken the world record for the tightest parallel park in a Fiat 500 convertible by sliding it into a spot with a mere 7.5cm to spare!
Mr Moffatt was called into action by Autosport Show after his previous records for the tightest parallel park had been bested by ace Chinese driver Han Yue. Han Yue claimed the record with 15cm in 2012, before Mr Moffatt reduced the mark to 8.6cm, and then Han struck back with 8cm in a Mini.
Last month though Moffat hit back by sliding a 2015 Fiat 500C 1.2 Cult with increased tyre pressures and the ESP (electronic stability) turned off into a space just 7.5cm longer than the car itself. This new attempt is still awaiting verification from Guinness World Records.
And just for you many parking fact fans, the tightest parallel parking in reverse gear is 35cm by Germany's Ronny C' Rock. Given how packed our forecourts can become, we could do with drivers of Ronny and Alastair's calibre!
