The iconic New Fiat 500 won the Best City Car category in both the influential Sunday Times Top 100 Cars 2016 awards and the 2016 BusinessCar Awards.
The New Fiat 500 won the City Car category in the Sunday Times Top 100 Cars 2016 awards following 1,900 subtle updates to its features last year, all intended to enhance its classic design, driveability and ownership experience.
The award was decided by the driving experts and columnists at The Sunday Times, who explained, "People love this car as hard as they've loved pretty much anything on four wheels in the 21st century.
"The 500 might be nine years old, but its bug eyes are still charming enough buyers to make it one of Britain’s bestselling cars. So Fiat did as little as possible when the model was updated a few months ago: the car underwent 1,900-plus tweaks, but its shape is as cute and curvy as ever."
"There’s now a built-in touchscreen on the dash and a greater choice of colours inside, but driving it feels little different... youthful enthusiasm in turns and the fun, lively 0.9-litre TwinAir engine, both bring joy to city driving."
Even Jeremy Clarkson described it as "a hoot" when he took a 500 for a test drive in November 2015.
Sebastiano Fedrigo, head of brand Fiat UK, said, "It's wonderful that the experts appreciate the enhancements that we made to our iconic city car, which were introduced to keep the Fiat 500 ahead of the pack in terms of connectivity and technological features while also evolving its unmistakable style and broadening its appeal even further."

The New Fiat 500 was voted City Car of the Year by the readers of BusinessCar magazine and www.businesscar.co.uk after taking 28% of the votes in that category.
Paul Barker, BusinessCar Editor, outlined why: "The Fiat 500 is an iconic city car that manages to combine style and fun with benefits of impressive running cost and residual values. To succeed in the business sector there needs to be a case for the head as well as the heart, and our readers obviously feel that the new 500 is well capable of making the case to both."
Two new business-friendly versions join the New Fiat 500 range for 2016. A 1.3-litre MultiJet II 95hp turbo diesel features technologies such as a smart alternator, rapid engine warm-up, variable oil pump displacement and Start & Stop to produce an official combined cycle fuel economy figure of 83.1mpg and CO2emissions of 89g/km, while a new 1.2-litre 'Eco' model employs similar improvements to offer 99g/km and a combined fuel economy of 65.7mpg cutting a yearly road tax bill from £20 to £0 and lowering Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax liability from 17% to 14% compared to the standard 1.2-litre 69hp model.
Sebastiano Fedrigo said: "We're delighted to win the City Car of the Year award in the 2016 BusinessCar Awards because it reflects what the people who use the Fiat 500 day-to-day as part of their businesses really feel about it! And if they loved it before, they're going to be blown away by the New Fiat 500 with its new styling enhancements, UConnect system with optional TomTom navigation and even lower running costs thanks to the new diesel and ‘Eco' models!"
