The New Ford Focus

A tastefully revised exterior and interior is backed up by a range of acclaimed engines underneath the bonnet and the very latest in Ford's driver assistance technology, including the SYNC 2 connectivity system, a rearview camera, the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®), and an available lane-keeping system.

Ford has gone the extra mile to update the world's best-selling car by listening to their customers before taking each individual feature and doing it even better. The result is a sporty character, life-enhancing new technology features, and major improvements in its fuel economy.

Focus on Design

The sleek and sporty new exterior reflects the attractive new aesthetics being rolled out across the Ford range.

Available as a five-door hatchback and an estate, the new Focus looks lower and wider with a new bonnet, slimmer front headlights and fog lamps, and an inverted trapezoidal grille creating a more striking visual impact.

The interior is now simpler and more intuitive with fewer controls, a new black satin trim and chrome detailing. The cabin has more space for passengers and storage, while thicker carpets, windows, and engine bay insulation have reduced any unwanted engine noise and created an even more comfortable experience.

Focus on Technology

Ford SYNC 2 lets you control your music and calls on your mobile via an 8" colour touchscreen or by using simple voice commands. The system even reads your incoming texts aloud, adjusts the climate control, and operates the navigation system (where fitted). Even just pushing the voice control button and saying "I'm hungry" or asking to play a specific musician is enough for SYNC 2 to bring up the required menu!

Among the advanced driving technologies are some truly amazing systems that seemed like the stuff of dreams even only 10 years ago. The new Focus is the first Ford model to use Perpendicular Parking as well as Active Park Assist (which was first seen in the previous generation Focus).

Active Park Assist uses ultrasonic sensors to detect parking spaces and take care of the steering while the driver controls the accelerator and brake. Perpendicular Parking uses two more of these sophisticated sensors to help reverse into a space alongside another car. The Focus can even get the car out of a parking position too with Park-Out Assist as well as looking out for vehicles trying to pass behind them with Cross Traffic Alert.

Out on the open road Adaptive Front Lighting System adjusts the Bi-Xenon HID headlamps depending on the road layout, Electric Power Assisted Steering and Electronic Stability Control enhance the handling, while Active Braking, Active City Stop and Adaptive Cruise Control keep you safe even on the most jam-packed streets.

Focus on Power and Performance

The range of engines available for the new Focus have boosted fuel efficiency significantly by up to 19 per cent. Together with a stiffer chassis, revised suspension and enhanced handling, the Focus is responsive, economical and fun to drive.

Engines available include:

  • 1.5 TDCi 120 PS (DPF) S6 6-speed Manual
  • 1.5T EcoBoost 182PS S6 6-speed Manual
  • 1.0T EcoBoost 125PS S6 6-speed Manual
  • 1.0T EcoBoost 100PS S6 5-speed Manual

The 1-litre EcoBoost has been the International Engine of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2014 – the only engine to ever win for three consecutive years – while the new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine both offer significant improvements in fuel efficiency.

Paddle-shift controls to change gears are optional with all automatic and PowerShift transmissions.

Sleeker, stronger and superbly efficient – the new Ford Focus sets the benchmark in its class.
