New Ford Mondeo in Basildon, Rayleigh & Southend, Essex
The new Ford Mondeo has undergone a comprehensive upgrade. Every aspect has been improved, from the interior and exterior design through to performance and economy. With its new sophisticated design, the new Mondeo projects style and confidence, whether you’re inside the cabin or watching it drive by. This popular model offers something for everyone. The Mondeo is so impressive that it won the What Car? Best Family Car, Best Estate Car and UK’s Greenest Family Car in both 2011 and 2012, so you know you are purchasing quality when you get behind the wheel of the new Ford.
New Mondeo Engine Options
Choose from either the petrol or diesel 2.0-litre engines, all tweaked to improve power output, fuel efficiency and CO2 emissions. This is reflected in the development of Ford’s EcoBoost engines, as the fuel consumption of the petrol engine is closer to that of a diesel engine, thanks to this technology. The top of the new Mondeo range is the 2.0-litre SCTi that delivers 237bhp and 26.7mpg, while reducing emissions by up to 20 percent. Should you want something smaller, the 1.6 EcoBoost engine is available with 158bhp and returns an impressive 44.1mpg.
Mondeo Safety Features
In addition to all this, the new Mondeo is fitted with a fleet of safety features that ensures you are always in safe hands. Every aspect is covered, for example the driver has increased protection thanks to the design of the collapsible steering column, while Hill Start Assist keeps you steady when facing the more difficult of engine starts. For convenience as well as safety on longer journeys, Adaptive Cruise Control helps you maintain a safe and constant distance from the vehicle in front.
New Style & Design
The design of the new Ford has also been altered. A re-proportioned front grille, intricately restyled bumpers and a sculpted bonnet, plus LED daytime running lights and chrome detailing throughout, all combine to make the new Mondeo more sleek and athletic looking.

Appears to labour and vibrate when loaded at low speeds (20-30mph). Seems to need to change down a gear. Fine if I go into sports mode !!!
My Mondeo is a Business Edition which has many extras, all of which are useful and informative. Fuel economy is good - 50mpg currently.
1] The Sat Nav system is complicated and not explained properly. I understand that at one time there was additional literatureavailable to explain it but that is no longer provided. 2] The Sat Nav is not bang up to date, the junction of the A130/A13 is not shown, despite the fact the new lay out has been there for a year - pre Olympics. 3] The voice control/phone features are too complicated and not properly explained in the handbook and leaflet. Plus it seems to struggle to understand my deep voice.
