The All-New Kia Stonic compact crossover SUV is scheduled to launch at Essex Auto Group – Kia dealerships in Lakeside and Southend in October 2017.
This completely new model will be available with either 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines.
Taking several design cues from its larger sister SUVs (the popular Sportage and Sorento), the All-New Rio, and the Kia Provo concept car, the stunning Stonic has Kia's instantly recognisable 'tiger-nose' grille, a low centre of gravity, a sweeping roofline and roof rack, plus sharp horizontal lines and tail lights. These lend the SUV a beautifully well balanced and sporty look.
A ‘Targa’-style roof will let owners opt for two-tone paintwork. There will reportedly be up to 20 colour combinations as there will be a range of up to five different roof colours.
The cabin's design reflects features from the exterior, with straight lines, smooth surfaces, and the potential for personalisation with different colour packs from which to choose. The comfortable cabin contains class-leading shoulder room and ample legroom and headroom, as well as a highly practical 352-litre boot with a two-step boot floor.
Inside, the Stonic’s technology includes a ‘floating’ HMI (human-machine interface), heated front seats, keyless entry, and smartphone connectivity and infotainment (Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ as standard) to enhance safety, comfort and convenience.
Driver aids feature cruise control, Electronic Stability Control and Vehicle Stability Management (including Torque Vectoring by Braking, Straight Line Stability, and Cornering Brake Control). Customers can select options from Kia’s DRiVE WISE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems for additional safety technology, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition and Forward Collision Alert, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a Lane Departure Warning System, High Beam Assist, and Driver Attention Warning.
A range of lightweight, turbocharged petrol and diesel engines will be available with a manual transmission to provide optimal driving feedback and efficiency. Owners can choose from 1.25- or 1.4-litre naturally-aspirated MPI petrol engines, a 1.0-litre 120PS T-GDI engine, or an efficient 1.6-litre diesel engine. The car’s low centre of gravity and specially tuned steering and suspension offer an exciting drive, responsive handling, and a stable ride.
