Previewing New Mazda CX-5
Mazda has unveiled its new SUV concept. Previewing a new, small crossover the CX-5 is clearly influenced by Mazda’s new design language.
Introduced on the Shinari concept, the styling theme is called Kodo – Soul of Motion, and is the work of Mazda’s new design chief, Ikuo Maeda.
Elements like the angular shield-shaped grille; narrow, feline headlights and swooping roofline are all carried over in what promises to be a design that wins the firm new fans when the car makes production.
Few details have been released so far, but the concept also features Mazda’s new SKYACTIV technology, which includes downsized, efficient engines and transmissions, and a greater use of lightweight but strong materials in the car’s construction for improved safety and agility.
