Decided by the editorial team of What Car? Magazine, the Mazda CX-5 wins the prestigious top SUV in the recent What Car? Green Awards.
“The Mazda CX-5 offers an extraordinary amount of car for the price," said What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett at the awards ceremony held at The Imagination Gallery in London this month.
The Mazda CX-5 has already won the best design award in its class which was voted on by readers of Auto Bild. A total of 200,000 readers cast their vote across 15 European countries with the CX-5 beating rivals such as the Audi Q3 and the Audi A6 Allroad.
“As well as great fuel economy and low emissions, it has loads of standard equipment, plenty of passenger space and an elevated seating position. The flexible seating can also be folded flat in a second for easy loading."
The What Car? team described the SUV’s 2.2-litre 148bhp SKYACTIV-D
diesel engine as its “stand-out feature delivering strong performance
and exceptional economy.” Runners-up to the Mazda CX-5 2.2 SKYACTIV-D
150ps SE-L were the BMW X3 xDrive20d SE (True MPG 42.2) and Nissan
Qashqai 1.6 dCi Acenta 2WD (True MPG 45.9).
The Mazda CX-5 has also won the “Best Crossover” by Auto Express Magazine, cited for its “space, quality and style with a great drive and incredible efficiency.”
