WHATCAR? Award - Best City Car
New Kia Picanto

Conceived as a compact A-segment model by Kia's design centres in Korea and Germany, the updated exterior of this latest Kia Picanto is set to steal the limelight with a youthful and energetic design reflected in its stylish body curves, subtle sculpting and strikingly vibrant colour palette. All sure to catch the eye and win over the heart. Its extended wheelbase pushes the wheels further out into each corner for an even more confident appearance and stance – accentuated still further by projection headlamps and signature LED daytime running lights featuring LED turn indicators.

Perhaps most instantly noticeable is the sheer space on offer inside such a compact car thanks to smarter packaging efficiency than ever before giving you more driver, passenger and cargo space than other rivals in the segment. This roominess and functionality is complemented by comfy design details throughout, like the front first-in-segment centre-console armrest with console storage. The sense of spaciousness is underlined by clean lines along the stylish dashboard, which groups the high tech of the driving, entertainment and climate elements with logical ingenuity for a thoroughly contemporary feel. Now you can make your Picanto truly your own too, with the widest-ever range of colours for trim and upholstery from which to choose.

At the heart of the cabin is a new 'floating' 7" LCD touchscreen infotainment system, always keeping you one step ahead when it comes to navigation, real-time updates and more. Plus with the voice control of Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™, you can keep your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times. There’s even a rear park sensor featuring a rear-view camera with dynamic guidelines for effortless reverse manoeuvring. The new Picanto also frees you from cables while you top up your phone on the road simply by placing your compatible mobile device on the wireless phone charger. Other advanced technologies dedicated to looking out for your safety include the Auto Emergency Braking System, detecting potential collisions ahead earlier in advance and applying the brakes accordingly.

New Kia Picanto X-Line

This new Picanto variant further broadens the appeal of the Picanto, combining its best qualities with a new look which draws inspiration from Kia’s popular crossover and SUV models – the Sportage and Sorento.

The rugged design is highlighted by contrast colour packs and raised ground clearance (to 156mm) which also gives the driver a clearer view of the road ahead. The new derivative benefits from Kia’s 1.0-litre T-GDI engine, making it the most powerful Picanto ever.

The new X-Line variant introduces a series of rugged new design cues. Incorporating Kia’s signature ‘tiger-nose’ grille, the X-Line boasts more imposing, SUV-style bumpers with metal-look skidplates at the front and rear for a more confident and "go-anywhere" appearance. Unique to the X-Line model, the grille and fog lamp surrounds are finished with lime green highlights, while black cladding around the wheel arches enhances the visual effect of the raised ground clearance.
